Interpreters can be provided upon request, subject to availability.
The South West Brisbane Community Legal Centre offers basic assistance and advice in a range of legal matters including the following:

  • Family Law;
  • Domestic Violence;
  • Minor Civil (including consumer, credit and debt and neighbour disputes)
  • Minor Traffic offences;
  • Motor vehicle accidents (property damage only);
  • Wills and enduring powers of attorney;
  • Child protection
  • Youth criminal law advocacy.

The Centre provides initial advice to clients on any matter within the competence of the staff. However, if a relevant specialist Community Legal or other Centre exists within Brisbane the client will be referred there or to any appropriate Legal Aid Queensland specialist unit. Examples of such matters include tenancy, immigration, welfare rights, criminal compensation and child support.

The Centre will not provide advice on the following:

  • adult criminal matters;
  • "second opinion advice" where clients already have a solicitor;
  • "commercial" matters such as taxation, conveyancing, business-related, investments and similar. Clients seeking such advice will be referred to an appropriate organisation where possible;
  • issues regarding solicitors including:
    - bills;
    - complaints;
    All such issues should be referred to the Queensland Legal Services Commission.
  • personal injury matters;
  • other matters at the discretion of the Co-ordinator and / or Management Committee. Please contact us to see if we are able to assist you.

Our solicitors can assist in the preparation of documents such as Wills and Powers of Attorney. They may also provide assistance with documents such as divorce applications, consent orders and others depending on individual circumstances.

While we do not charge a fee for the preparation of documents, donations will be greatfully accepted.
